- PRESS RELEASE -

December 11, 2020 – Fluence was named Commercial Technology of the Year at the 22nd annual S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards held virtually on December 10, 2020. Hosted by S&P Global Platts, the leading independent provider of information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets, the annual awards program honors organizations and individuals in the energy industry who are dedicated to achieving excellence.

Fluence’s 6th generation Technology Stack sets a new bar in large-scale battery-based energy storage by combining factory-built, highly modular building blocks with sophisticated software and digital intelligence to deliver scalable yet highly configurable energy storage solutions. Unlike conventional methodologies, Fluence takes a “platform” approach: the Tech Stack’s core integrated hardware, software and digital intelligence layers form the basis for standardized yet flexible solutions (Gridstack, Sunstack and Edgestack) needed to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.

New Call-to-action

Martin Fraenkel, president of S&P Global Platts: “We congratulate Fluence for its win of Commercial Technology of the Year. In a year that was so tumultuous, it was particularly impressive and heartening to see how this year’s group of winners re-organized around obstacles, forged ahead on ground-breaking technology, completed transformative deals and maintained focus on long-term energy sustainability. Tonight’s winners, and finalists, alike, are to be congratulated for their individual and collective accomplishments.”

“It is an honor to be recognized for our innovative energy storage technology from among a field of impressive finalists,” said Fluence CEO Manuel Perez Dubuc. “Built on 12 years of lessons from the field and more than 230 terabytes of system data, our 6th generation Tech Stack will support our global efforts to transform the way we power our world.”

Energy companies from 10 countries spanning four continents tonight received honors for leadership, innovation and exemplary performance. Actor-comedian-director Jason Alexander of cinema and television fame hosted the virtual event, which bestowed 22 awards upon companies and individuals.
